Aidilfitri 2009

I was at Geni trying to upload some raya photos. Whilst waiting the slow uploading, I thought I would just post some of the family raya pics too. Was at some of the blogs like Kak Teh's, Mamasita's and Mrs N's and such beautiful raya pics they have.

Those snapped from my camera phone turned out pretty ok too.

It was after many years that we finally spent our pagi raya at Emak's. The photos below were taken after solat sunat raya. Emak was not in them because she was hijacked by one of her friends to attend an open house.

Before leaving for KL just now, sempat snapped pics with Emak. May Allah bless us and insha Allah panjang umur and dapat beraya together next year.

Ucapan Aidilfitri

Although there have already been exchanges of Selamat Hari Raya wishes between the cyber friends and me, it would not be appropriate without me wishing you "blogofficially" from the bottom of my heart.....

Travel Not For Raya Yet

I am going to outstation for work tomorrow.

What? Dah nak raya pun pergi outstation?

Well... if I don't do this, it will be a debt (work debt) which I can only pay in November because Oct will be a crazy month for me. So let's get it over and done with.

Beloved hubby is willing to drive me to Segamat.

A blessing to it is, we will stop by at Muar on the way home and it saves Aliah from taking the bus home for raya holidays.

Hopefully the traffic will be ok. After that I will cuti raya for a week , hooray!

Meme : Save Yvonne's Sight

Because it is just three days to Raya Puasa and I am a bit free (dah khatam lah katakan), I will dwell on Kay's TAG on me.

Three things I love to see.

1. 5 Aces soundly and peacefully sleeping.
2. Emak's excitement when she talks about the Holy place.
3. The tarmac at KLIA everytime the plane is about to land after my outstation trips.

You can also help by sending on this meme. If you do, please follow these meme rules:

1. Create a blog entry titled "Meme: Save Yvonne's Sight"
2. List three things you love to see. Add in the picture of Yvonne's book cover. The URL is
3. End with the line, "Yvonne Foong is in danger of losing her eyesight thanks to neurofibromatosis (NF). Please find out how you can help her by visiting her blog at
4. Tag 5 blog friends. Be sure to copy the rules, OK?
5. If you have a Facebook account, please check out Ellen's new invention, a "feme" pronounced FEEM, a meme designed for Facebook here. And if you want to blog about NF, that would be great too!

I am tagging not 5, enuf 3:-
1) Shana (because this is the easiest tag ever for her I think)
2) Ms Hart (because she is all geared up to celebrate raya already and a tag will make her even busier)
3) Desert Rose (because she recovered from quarantine and can take any tags!)

Internalising Ramadhan

Time waits for no man. That is very true. Without realising it, today is the 23rd of Ramadhan. I have not been updating my blog since the beginning of this holy month. The real reason behind it is obvious. Here's sharing you the highlights of the past few weeks.

I challenged myself after reading Desert Rose blog some time back on Cara cara Untuk Khatam Quran dalam Masa Sebulan. Each waktu we have to read 4.5 pages according to DR's calculation. I didn't actually follow her calculation, more of my own timing. Yelah... kerja mah. Most of the reciting times would be after terawih at the mosque and weekends, and sometimes early morning before I start work. The stretched KPI is to khatam by 20th of Ramadhan, but I am not able to meet it. As I write, I am in the middle of reading Juzuk 29. Insha Allah by Tuesday, I would be able to complete it.

It is no joke trying to catch up with the time and reading. I made sure that I would be reading the Juzuks ahead of the days so that I can complete before the last day. Alas I managed!

On the 5th day of Ramadhan, I was "dikejutkan" by a shocking event. I came in to office early that day (just had to do it because we knocked off at 4 pm this fasting month and the time at office is just too short). Since it was still early, I began to read the Quran. A couple of minutes later, N came knocking at my door. N asked me for some personal advice. Although I have never been in her situation, I tried to relate some good points. Later when she left and I supposed she went straight to her work place, I heard a loud thump, and my secretary's loud scream "N!"

I rushed out. N was already on the floor. I kneeled to lift her up and console her. "N, kenapa ni? Mengucap N, mengucap." I urged N. She was gasping for air and passed out. "N, N, dengar tak, please... please jangan tidur, bangun!" N became conscious again.

"N takut kak Yatt." She wept. I held her hands and they were freezing. I asked one of my staff to call the emergency team. They arrived minutes later. R who is noted to have six senses was called too.

I saw R making some weird action just before N was wheeled on the stretcher. My secretray followed N to the medical centre nearby.

After N left, R spoke to me. She said there were saka on the floor. This saka is like gorilla hanging on the walls. There was one in my room and there were many in the room about 20 metres away from mine. Apparently N was disturbed by one of the saka.

I told R I mengaji in the room but R said it will leave when I read the Quran but will come back again. She didn't give much attention to the one in my room but was concerned about the rest on the same floor.

Scary eh... I thought during Ramadhan benda benda ni diikat.

Next some happy times. On the 15th day of Ramadhan, it was makan time! Had a buka puasa do with my class mates from IIU at Edi's. I realised that my friends are now regarded as very high profile. Edi had always been doing it for some years now but I have never been able to make it because the ocassion always coincided with my travelling.

Note: Notice some of the familiar names and familiar faces?

The management of the company organised an internalisation of Ramadhan on 17th day of Ramadhan. The program was called al- Falah. We spent two days and one night in Hulu Langat. It was filled with activities like Bersama Anak Yatim, Qiyamullail and Mengingati Mati.

We ate in the dulang, 4 persons per tray. The nasi seemed like nasi uduk but huge one. For berbuka all food in the dulang was wiped out, for sahur, almost!

This is Mengingati Kematian. Guess who was dikapankan? Someone asked me how I felt? Well, insaf definitely. When I was "dibungkus" there was music and video of Sakaratulmaut. It was scary, but I wish I had my contact lenses on or my specs on so that I truly had the feel.

Aha... archery, sukan yang Nabi Muhammad suka. For a start, I did pretty well. But the hands jadi lebam lepas tu.

On the 20th of Ramadhan was Alim's birthday. I got him a Hot Wheels scooter, which he can't get enough of it. He said, "Mommy pandai pilih present untuk Alim." Pandai bodek rupanya Alim tu.

Datuk Fatma al Zahra did solat tasbih for us ladies on 21st of Ramadhan. She cried and wept as she read the doa. I was teary too, bertaubat and insaf. But I wonder why I can't feel like she does. Have I not reached that level yet?

Today is 23rd Ramadhan, beloved husband masak lamb chop for the family. I thought I was dreaming because he never cooked ever, ever since I got married to him. Is this a sign of change? The taste?... Not bad. Victoria Station menang by marginal point. But my butter fried rice yang became the killer! He he.. I think I deserve the credit too.

Just now, my tailor called, yeay yeay, baju raya dah siap. To my disappointment, one of the baju kurungs seemed not to be sown correctly. That's what I thought because I looked fat wearing it. Poor thing! But after internalising Ramadhan this much, I could not care less as I know there are other people who do not even have any baju raya to wear.

I hope this feeling will last even after Ramadhan. OK time to read the Quran.
